Random thoughts and issues

Tue Sep 16, 2008, 3:40 AM
Our internet is down. Our landlord is trying to fix it, but I don't know when she'll get it to work. Apparently the wireless base station is on the blink. It sucks because we've already paid for our internet connection for this month. Now I'm forced to use the universitys computers. Technically these shouldn't be used to anything else than studying. I'm getting nasty glares from students around me... :paranoid:

And I'm getting sick. I never get a fever, just all the other symptoms of a bad flu, including feeling like shit. That fact caused me many problems when I was a kid. Back then I had to be very resourceful so that my mom would let me stay out from school whenever felt too ill. Cutting school was out of question if there wasn't any fever or outright vomiting. Nowadays I can't miss lectures because I suck in maths.

I've been also feeling a bit apathetic about drawing lately. I mean I've been wanting to draw but not knowing what. Where the hell did my imagination go? So I started this ridiculous Dark Tower project about two weeks ago (I got requests). I thought the series deserved a better tribute than those drawings in my gallery anyway. I'm a bit ashamed of them to be honest. I can't help it. So now I have finished line art done in portraits of all five members of the Ka-tet (Jake and Oy in same picture) + two sketches: The Crimson King an Randall Flagg (as Walter O'Dim a.k.a the man in black). I will submit them all at the same time when finished, but it'll probably take at least a month. And after it's done, no more DT fanart from me (unless someone for some reason wants to commission me). Great books, yes, but it's hard to keep feeling excited about them anymore. It's been more than a year since I finished the last book. So if there is someone who's watching me because of my DT stuff only, be ready to remove me from your list soon. ;p

So long bees, Hello rocks and fossils!

Wed Aug 27, 2008, 8:10 AM
Only few days to go, and then my agonizing summer of beekeeping is over. I'm stressed out as hell because I still got a lot of work to do and I'm seriously running out of time. And on top of that it's raining. Trying to find the queen bee in a downpour is practically impossible, so I'm forced to sit down and wait for awhile. I'm not too bitter, but I'll be damned if it's still raining tomorrow.

If everything goes as planned I'll be moving back to Helsinki next saturday. Me and two of my friends managed to rent an apartment together, so I don't have to live as a subtenant in an old children's room anymore. My quality of life is improving considerably.

And even better, In Flames is coming to Finland and I got my ticket! 27th of October is going to be pure epicness. That band has got me through very hard times and this will be the first time I get to see them live. And Sonic Syndicate will be there warming up the crowd with Gojira. I have the stupidest smirk on my face right now. Too bad that I couldn't get any of my friends to join me there. "Hell no, we are not going to listen that kind of shit!" One of them calls all the music I listen 'cough medicine -music'. Thanks guys, I love you all! I'll be going by myself then. They don't know what they're missing.

And one more thing.
I've managed to get one of my friends to play videogames. Now she's stoked about them, and we finished Resistance: Fall of Man in a Co-op mode few months ago, two times. This year we'll be sharing an apartment and my PS3. Problem is that I've always played solo, and after checking my game collection I realized with dismay that Resistance is the only good game I own which can be played in co-op mode. Player vs player won't do, because she hasn't played as long as me. She isn't so enthusiastic about gaming by herself either. So I need recommendations. If anyone knows great cooperative games for PS2/PS3 (preferably FPS's or other action games), then feel free to tell me.

Not quite dead yet

Sat Jun 28, 2008, 9:54 AM
It's raining like hell so no work for me this evening. I've realised that spending summer with my family and working my ass off trying to take care of bees whose ultime reason to live seems to be causing me as much pain as possible was, in fact, a huge mistake. Bees I can still tolerate, but living in a same house with my mother is even worse than I remembered. At least it builds my character... And I can look forward for a heavy paycheck.

So here I am trying to catch up on messages. And also telling something about what I've been up to. It's not ALL work for me this summer you know, I can do whatever I want to after nine in the evening. ;p

I've been drawing, playing video games or watching TV. Activities that doesn't require any notable brain functions, that is.

About my photoshop stuff... I think I'm finally starting to learn how to use that software. And I've never enjoyed drawing this much. I'm trying to set the bar higher and spend more effort on my deviations. I've already started to feel a bit ashamed for my earlier stuff, which I think is a good sign. Maybe after a year or so I've finally found my own way of doing things, my own style. I still got long way to go, though.

I bet this journal is going to puzzle you people, even I don't know what I'm trying to say here...
Well I'm tired and I still got a lot to do so I'll finish this journal here before I cause any more damage.

Well, I hope to be here again soon. Later guys.

Tough summer ahead

Fri May 2, 2008, 1:51 PM
It has begun. My 2 million bees have woken up to collect nectar and pollen from the first flowers of spring, so that they can turn it into honey which I will steal afterwards to finance my studies. And such is the natural order of things.

That also means that I have to start working hard. I will be stung over and over again, it will be hot as hell with my protective suit on and my every muscle will be aching so that even walking will become pure misery.

What I'm trying to say is that I won't be able to login every day like I sometimes used to, which means that it might take a while before I answer in messages. And there is also this GTA4 factor... You have to understand me on that, I've been waiting for it to be released for ages. So my pathetic amount of leisure will be spent more or less on gaming. I will simply be too tired to do anything else, especially if it demands thinking.

I will answer in every single message I get, eventually.

I'll start doodling again as soon as I get enough of that goddam game.

And I want to thank everyone who visits my gallery or comments/faves my stuff during this time. I appreciate all of it. :thanks:

So long, people! Have a great summer holidays and know that I envy you. :XD:

Whoohoo!

I won a one month subscription. :w00t:
To put the things into right perspective, you should know that my entry came third with two other pics, and there really weren't too many participants. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely stoked. I didn't think I could win anything, I just thought it could be fun to give it a try when I found out about the Avatar (yes, the kids show from nickelodeon :XD:) contest. Although the plot sometimes irritates me, the fight scenes glue me in front of the screen every time. I mean, the dude can create fire out of nowhere and use it to kick butt with extravagant martial art moves, not to mention what the other kids can do.
Contest results can be seen here. My congrats to the winners!

Subscription makes everything so much easier. Too bad that I have to give it up after just one month, right when I've learned to take all the advantage out of it. Perhaps I shall try my luck in another contest :plotting:. Earning some extra money to renew it just won't do.

And by the way, if someone is intrested in what i'm up to right now, I'm hoping that I'll manage to submit a picture of my own characters before next friday.
